Multimedia

The word multimedia says it all. The term is used in contrast to media which only utilize traditional forms of printed or hand-produced material. Multimedia includes a combination of text, audio, still images, animation, video, and interactivity content forms.

You must remember when preparing for a presentation that the important part is the message that you are trying to convey and not the amount of gadgets that you can use to “wow” an audience.

Different forms of media can be used to help emphasize a point or an aspect of your presentation. You must keep in mind that the purpose is to emphasize or clarify a point and not to have your presentation buried by gadgets.

A useful rule of thumb that you can use is: what do I need for my presentation. Many people forget this and rather than use what they need, they use as much as they can. Thus, the audience is mesmerized and thrown off your presentation by gadgets. You must keep the audience’s focus on you and what you are saying !
